Maria is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) specializing in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Narrative Therapy. She earned her degree from Concordia University Chicago and is Bilingual, offering sessions in both English and Spanish.

How She Creates A Healing Space

“I start by showing up as myself and allowing others to be themselves. Coming from a diverse background (American/Ecuadorian), I have an appreciation for different cultures, backgrounds and ways of being. Building self acceptance and self trust is my favorite!

I also like to provide an inviting environment that includes active listening, humor, movement, art, and meditation. Exploration and taking the right amount of time to process emotions is important. In a world where everything is so busy, slowing down and taking time to process our emotions is valuable.”

Her Methods

“I use a strength-based approach, leaning into each person's unique strengths and finding out how we can apply those to life's challenges. Gratitude, flexibility in thoughts and emotions, acceptance, commitment, goals, spirituality, wellness routines, and community are different methods that can aid in the healing journey. I also believe that self awareness, education around mental health challenges, and staying present are all things that can be learned and practiced to create a safer and more loving world.”
